How to Find the Right Joie Stroller and Car Seat

Joie at a Glance

Joie is best known for everyday and lightweight strollers as well as car seats, in other words everything you need when you're out and about with a baby or toddler. The range also includes high chairs, travel cribs and infant bouncers for home and travel.

Joie Lightweight and Everyday Strollers

Which Joie stroller is right for you depends mainly on the kinds of paths you'll be using it on. Most models belong to the trax family. All are designed for children up to 22 kg and differ mainly in their wheels, handlebar and seat:

Litetrax rolls on EVA wheels and is made for paved paths, so it's ideal for the city, the supermarket and walks along the sidewalk.
Litetrax Pro has air-chamber wheels. They contain a sealed air chamber but never need pumping up, and they also handle forest trails and dirt paths.
Litetrax Pro Air rides on pneumatic tires that you pump up just like bicycle tires.
Mytrax Pro combines air-chamber wheels with a height-adjustable telescopic handlebar. That's handy if you take turns pushing the stroller and are different heights.
Versatrax has a reversible seat unit: your child can face forward or face you.

Travel Strollers and Double Strollers

For vacations and city breaks, Joie offers compact travel strollers that fold down small and are lightweight. For parents with two children who both need to ride along, Joie also makes dedicated double and twin strollers.

From Birth with a Bassinet or Infant Car Seat

You should only use strollers once your baby can sit up unassisted. If you want to use the stroller from birth, you can attach the Joie Ramble XL bassinet to the frame, or, for short trips, a compatible infant car seat. For Litetrax, Litetrax Pro, Litetrax Pro Air and Mytrax Pro you'll need a compatible adapter; with Versatrax, this accessory is already included.

Joie Car Seats

Under the current i-Size standard (UN R129), the right car seat for your child depends on your child's height. Joie offers car seats to fit every size:

An infant car seat such as the joie i-Snug 2 or i-Gemm 3 is the first car seat from birth. You can lift it out of the car with your baby inside and attach it to your stroller frame with an adapter, so your baby can simply keep sleeping in the seat.
Rear-facing car seats take over from the infant car seat, and your child continues to ride rear-facing in them until at least 15 months. The rear-facing seats in the joie i-Spin 360 series rotate toward the door, making it easier to put your child in and buckle them up.
Car seats that grow with your child stay with them until the end of the legal car seat requirement, i.e. up to 150 cm in height or their 12th birthday.

Installation in the Car

Depending on the model, Joie car seats are installed with Isofix connectors directly in the vehicle, on an Isofix base, or with the vehicle seat belt. When installed correctly, all options are safe, but Isofix makes everyday installation easier. If your car doesn't have Isofix, choose a car seat model that installs with the seat belt.

You use a Joie infant car seat from birth until your child reaches the model's maximum limit. For the i-Size infant car seats i-Snug 2 and i-Gemm 3, this is 75 cm or 85 cm in height respectively and no more than 13 kg, whichever limit is reached first. If your child's head extends above the top of the seat before then, it's time for a rear-facing car seat. Legs eventually sticking out over the edge are not a reason to switch to the next car seat.

The Joie i-Spin 360 is approved for children from 40 to 105 cm in height, i.e. from birth to about 4 years. If you want a seat that grows with your child for longer, there's the i-Spin 360 Max, which goes up to 150 cm in height.
