Lambskin specialist from the Westerwald
Kaiser specializes in footmuffs, wrap blankets and accessories for strollers and infant car seats, with a clear focus on lambskin.
The brand is backed by Kaiser Naturfellprodukte GmbH from Dreikirchen in the Westerwald region, a second-generation family business. According to Kaiser, almost all of its lambskin products are made in its own workshop in the Westerwald.
Besides lambskin, the range also includes footmuffs made of thermal fleece, with down filling or made of lightweight summer fabrics. Which Kaiser footmuff is right for you therefore depends mainly on two things: the material and whether you use it in an infant car seat or a stroller.
Independently tested lambskin
With Kaiser, you don't have to rely on the manufacturer's own checks alone: according to Kaiser, its lambskin products are tested and certified externally every year – to the OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD and by TÜV Rheinland. The OEKO-TEX testing for harmful substances is carried out in the product class for baby articles, meaning according to the requirements that apply to products for babies and toddlers.
Kaiser footmuffs: materials at a glance
Kaiser footmuffs differ mainly in their material – and therefore in how they feel, which season they are designed for and how you care for them.
Lambskin
Lambskin is Kaiser's core material. Footmuffs like Natura have a lining made of genuine lambskin, while other models combine a fleece footmuff with a lambskin liner. Lambskin is soft and cozy but needs a little more care: wash it by hand at a maximum of 30 °C with a special lambskin detergent. You can read what you should know about lambskin for babies in our magazine.
Wool
At Kaiser, wool is mainly found in loden, a dense woven wool fabric used as an outer fabric in combination with lambskin – the Emilia infant car seat footmuff, for example, uses loden made of 100% wool. Other models such as Hoody Maus Wool have a sheep's wool filling. How you care for them depends on the model: loden with lambskin is washed by hand, while the Hoody Maus Wool can go in the washing machine at 30 °C.
Down
The Dowwny models have a down filling and are available for strollers (Dowwny XL) and infant car seats (Little Dowwny). The Dowwny XL can be washed on a delicate cycle at 30 °C.
Fleece and other synthetic fibers
Footmuffs made of thermal fleece such as Akiko are an alternative without lambskin and are machine washable – handy when things need to move quickly in everyday life. At Kaiser, you will find polyester and nylon mainly as outer fabrics.
Cotton
For warmer days, there are lightweight summer footmuffs with cotton linings, for example in terry, jersey or muslin.
Footmuffs for on the go
Kaiser offers two types of footmuffs: models for infant car seats and stroller bassinets and special footmuffs for strollers.
The most important difference is size: infant car seat footmuffs are more compact and around 80 cm long, and models such as Little Dowwny or Hoody Maus Wool are designed for the first year.
Depending on the model, footmuffs for strollers and lightweight strollers are about 85 to 105 cm long and designed for bigger babies and toddlers – Akiko, for example, for 6 to 36 months. The footmuffs have harness slots for the harness system of the infant car seat and stroller.
Convertible features
Some Kaiser footmuffs can be converted. With the Natura lambskin footmuff, you can remove the top section on mild days and use the bottom section as a seat liner. Woolma grows with your child and can also be converted into a seat liner. On the Emilia infant car seat footmuff, you can remove the top section as well.
Footmuffs especially for Joie strollers
Kaiser has its own models for Joie strollers: Lukky and Pooly have an additional slot in the middle of the seat so you can keep using the stroller's one-hand fold mechanism. There is also a matching lambskin liner for Joie strollers.
You can find out what to look for when buying a footmuff in general in our magazine article.
Kaiser accessories and baby blankets
To go with the footmuffs, there are stroller gloves and hand muffs, summer liners made of terry or jersey, as well as sunshades and rain covers for the stroller.
Kaiser also offers cozy blankets and play blankets for home and on the go.
